NYC Vegandale Festival 2018 Survival Guide

When it comes to festivals, the seasoned vets will tell you there are tons of hacks that will make or break your experience. If you’re a first timer, don’t worry! We are here to walk you through it. Here is our festival guide to ensure you have the best time possible at the Second Annual New York Vegandale Food Drink Festival!

  1. The Lines

You’re heading to a food festival! Everyone is coming to experience the food, so please expect to wait in some lines. Our vendors will be doing their very best to serve their food as fast as possible. While you're waiting, grab a beer, join the queue, and enjoy meeting your fellow vegans. Arrive hungry, and we promise to make it worth the wait!

  1. Sharing is caring

Some vendors will be serving full portion sizes. If you want to be able to try everything, we suggest splitting your portions with friends! For example, a burger could be cut into 4 portions so that all of your group can get a bite!

  1. Be Entertained

This year, we have more entertainment than ever thanks to a few amazing sponsors! We'll have a volleyball station sponsored by Manitoba Hemp Harvest, a retro photo-booth bus sponsored by Sirrah, plus tons of other photo opportunities with our revamped art installations, stage games, and a DJ spinning live. Your Instagram opportunities will be endless, so don't forget to use #VegandaleFestNYC on all your posts.

  1. Stay hydrated

We will have water refill stations at the festival, so don't forget to bring your reusable bottle! It’s best to keep your water supply stocked, so you can last all day! We'll also have bottled water for sale at the bar, and a ton of drink vendors to help you keep hydrated.

  1. Your Appetite

Most importantly, bring your appetite. This is an absolute necessity. We have amazing vendors attending this year, and you won’t want to miss out on any of them!

  1. We’re Expanding

Vegans (and future vegans) unite! The festival is getting bigger and better and this year, we’ve got over 120 vendors coming with 20+ travelling from across the world! We have extended our festival to be over two days this year for more vegan food and good times!

  1. Shop Till You Drop

Vegandale’s own The Imperative will have a retail booth all weekend long - make sure to save that $$$ and stop by! They’ll be selling exclusive festival merch and custom vegan tees.

  1. Get Connected

With tons of other photo opportunities with our revamped art installations and amazing food options, your Instagram opportunities will be endless so don't forget to use #VegandaleFestNYC on all your posts.

  1. Get Your Drink On

This year, we're serving up a variety of drinks at our bar! Get the party started with a drink and some delicious vegan eats in your hands!

  1. Hands free

Bring a carry all bag or backpack because you’ll need your hands! Whether you’re eating, drinking, dancing or snapping pics, your hand won't be free to hold wallets or sunnies!

  1. Comfortable shoes

Wear comfortable shoes! The festival, like most, will be held on grassy terrain. Therefore wear shoes you can walk in on the grass, won’t cause blisters and you’ll be comfortable spending the day in.

  1. Bring your lounger

Don’t like to eat on the run? Feel free to bring your own portable chair or blanket.

  1. Sunglasses

Killer shades are a festival must have! Not only do they complete any look, you’ll be glad you have something to protect your eyes if it’s bright and sunny out!

14. Practical clothing

Wear something practical! The festival will be held outdoors, which means porta potties. We love rompers just as much as you do but do you really want to strip down every time you need to use the washroom?

15. Wet wipes

You’ll be glad you brought something to wash your hands and face with, especially after pigging out!

16. Bring cash

If you have friends who haven't bought their ticket, they'll have to purchase a ticket at the door with cash. Tickets will be sold pending availability, but we advise everyone to purchase tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment. Many vendors will accept cash only, so bring more than you think you’ll need. We will have ATMs on site for those who need it.

We hope that with keeping these tips and tricks in mind your festival experience is that much better! Can't wait to see you at the NYC Festival at Randall's Island on Septmber 29th and 30th!
