Vegandale Festival Survival Guide!
When it comes to festivals, the seasoned vets will tell you there are tons of hacks that will make or break your experience. If you’re a first timer, don’t worry! We are here to walk you through it. Here is our festival guide to ensure you have the best time possible at our Vegandale Festival!
We have included a Site Map with a complete list of vendors. We suggest saving this map to your phone for the festival. This will ensure you know where everything is in the palm of your hand! We will also have maps located around the park. Please note where our entrance is located.
TIPS AND TRICKS
In the hot Houston weather you need to keep hydrated! Due to the infrastructure at our venue - Sam Houston Park we are unable to have a water refill station. We suggest that you bring your own water or you can purchase water at our bar for $3.
You’re heading to a food festival, we’re all coming for the food, so expect some lines. Especially for those out of town vendors… you’re in for quite a wait, but don’t worry, it’s totally worth it. The vendors are doing their very best to serve their food as fast as possible. If you expect to be waiting, grab a beer, join the queue, and enjoy meeting some fellow vegans.
Sharing is caring
Some vendors will be serving full portion sizes. If you want to be able to try everything, we suggest splitting your portions with friends!
This year, we have more entertainment than ever! From games, to volleyball, to incredible art installations, to a bouncy castle and misting tent, and even a super exciting lineup of stage events (think hot dog eating contest, beer chugging contest, and prize giveaways). This wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, huge thank you to The Imperative, Sirrah, Manitoba Harvest and The Edgy Veggy.
Most importantly, bring your appetite. This is an absolute necessity. We have almost 100 amazing vendors attending this year, and you won’t want to miss out on any of them!
Shop Till You Drop
The incredible vegan retail store, The Imperative will be attending the festival. Make sure to save that $$$ and stop by! They’ll be selling exclusive festival merch and custom vegan tees.
Plan Your Transportation
Don't miss the fest because you didn't plan on how to get to the park! The festival will take place at Sam Houston Park. Please click here to view Sam Houston Park on Google Maps.
If you're driving to the park please note that there is no on site parking available, paid parking is available at 1100 Smith Garage which is located one block from Sam Houston Park.
Vendors & bar will be accepting cash only, so bring lots of it. Waiting in line to use the ATM is as annoying as those pesky service fees. Plan ahead and bring cash to the event, you’ll be happy you did!
On your way but stuck in traffic? Follow us on Instagram for live updates at the fest. Want to win amazing prizes? Hashtag #VegandaleFestHouston throughout the day to be entered to win. Stay tuned on our social media because our hosts will be doing IG takeovers and also hosting contests and games at the fest.
Get Your Drink On
What's better than a cold drink in your hand when the hot Houston sun is beating down on you? Be sure to check out all of the thirst quenching options we’ve added. Cheers to that!
Bring a carry all bag or backpack because you’ll need your hands! Whether you’re eating, drinking, dancing or snapping pics, having to carry things is just going to be annoying and ruin the experience.
Wear comfortable shoes! The festival, like most, will be held on grassy terrain. Therefore wear shoes you can walk in on the grass, won’t cause blisters and you’ll be comfortable spending the day in.
Bring your lounger
Don’t like to eat on the run? Feel free to bring your own portable chair or blanket.
Killer shades are a festival must have! Not only do they complete any look, you’ll be glad you have something to protect your eyes when it’s bright and sunny out!
High temperatures can mean low energy! Beat the heat by applying sunscreen before you come.
Wear something practical! The festival will be held outdoors, which means porta potties. We love rompers just as much as you do but do you really want to strip down every time you need to use the washroom?
You’ll be glad you brought something to wash your hands and face with, especially after pigging out!
Dogs have to stay at home
We love our four-legged friends but unfortunately, they are not allowed into our venue for our Houston festival.
See you at the fest on June 2nd and Sam Houston Park!
